DVT Screening
The Amtec Venometer is a portable device which uses a simple, non-invasive test for safely screening patients with suspected Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT).
The Venometer is suitable for use in hospital departments, community health centres or patients' homes. The test is quick and simple, taking 10 to 15 minutes, and is usually carried out by a nurse at the patient's bedside. The Venometer software is extremely user-friendly and guides the operator precisely through every step in the test sequence. The patient's comfort is paramount during the test, so an ergonomically designed footrest is provided. |
The definitive characteristic of Deep Vein Thrombosis is that it blocks normal blood flow. This feature is exploited by the Amtec Venometer in a simple non-invasive test. Clinical diagnosis for DVT is notoriously unreliable because the external symptoms of a DVT are so equivocal. The Amtec Venometer, however, determines the likelihood of a thrombosis by objectively measuring the rate at which blood drains under gravity from the patient's calf.
The Amtec Venometer automatically calculates the likelihood of a DVT based on the measurement taken by the sensor on the calf, whilst a blood pressure cuff is inflated on the thigh during this brief test. The results are then printed clearly on the computer screen as POSITIVE or NEGATIVE. All results are automatically archived and may be readily retrieved and catalogued.
Full on-site training is provided by Amtec Medical. The Venometer test produces a positive or negative result and requires no subjective analysis on the part of the operator.
The Venometer comes with free training and full comprehensive service and maintenance in the first year. This includes two visits to ensure that the test is being performed correctly and to provide any necessary training.
